
The Graduate 'Certificate in Operational Leadership' is designed for students who seek an understanding of the principles, theory, and the real world application of leadership in the 21st Century. This program is designed to be versatile, with the knowledge gained applicable in the military, government, corporate, health industry, education, and/or entrepreneur world.
Graduates of this program prepare themselves for either continued Military service and advancement, or senior leadership positions in a post-military professional experience. Students must hold a prior bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university/college. They also must be at minimum, a graduate of their Service's version of the officer basic course or higher; or, if a non-commissioned officer be a graduate of their Service's senior non-commissioned officer's course such as the Army's Sergeant Majors Academy or First Sergeant's course.
Applicants earn 18 graduate credits from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Tuition is $225 per credit for these 6 courses. There is a $25.00 application fee and a $2 per credit technology fee. Upon successful completion of the UCCS requirement each student will receive a Certificate in Operational Leadership .
All courses are 100% on-line and there are VA and Tuition Assistance funding opportunities for those eligible. Visit the Funding Options link on the left side of this page. The certificate can be reliably earned in one calendar year on active duty, about the same time you are selected or even promoted to Captain/Lieutenant. All senior NCOs, warrant and commissioned officers are welcome to apply.
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is an appropriately accredited public institution as verified at this link: regional accreditation. Its credits and degrees are bona-fide.
Negotiations to affiliate these courses with regionally accredited graduate degree in Leadership is a programmatic objective still underway. The VA has approved this certificate in the interim as a stand-alone certificate, and GI Bill resources can be utilized to pay for all costs and meet published stipend rules for each Chapter (30, 33, and 34). JROTC Instructors can utilize these credits as transcripted continuing education recognition in the states and school districts that accept them.
